Abiye Howells, popularly known as Howells G, is a respected musician, music producer, guitarist, band leader, public servant, and community leader from Rivers State, Nigeria.
With over three decades of experience in the music industry, his musical journey began in the church and later developed through active participation in choral music as a tenor singer.
He won several music competitions sponsored by Shell and other organizations as a member of the Enitonna High School, Borikiri Choir under the leadership of Sir Dr. Precious Omuku. He was also a founding member of the Philharmonic Choir led by Otonte Joseph Ekimiete and served as a freelance choirmaster during his early years.
Since beginning his professional music career in 1992,
Abiye Howells has made significant contributions to music performance, production, and artist development. He gained recognition after emerging as the winner of the Best Gospel Male Category at the maiden edition of the Odudu Awards and released his debut album, Rule Your Destiny, in 2011, featuring the popular single Talosefun Mi.
He is the founder and leader of The Imminent Band and has performed with notable bands including Oscar Jazz Band led by Ambrose Injokwo Jr. (Amby Jr.), Sweet Family Jazz Band led by the late Efe Omofreda, and King Sunny Brown Dance Band. He has also worked with respected artists such as Conboye Sinclair, Arthur People Jr., Singerman Flash, and Akeem Dbeat.
Currently serving as the Deputy Governor of PMAN Rivers State Chapter, he previously held the position of Welfare Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Business Administration and also possesses Diplomas in Secretarial Administration, Journalism, and Music and Sound Technology.
Through his leadership, music, community service, and public service, Abiye Howells remains committed to promoting artistic excellence, mentoring emerging talents, and advancing the welfare of musicians in Nigeria.
